Financial aid to trainees

The International Association for the Study of Pain Special Interest Group on Pain in Childhood,, invites applications from trainees to support attendance at the International Symposium on Pediatric Pain (ISPP 2019) in Basel,

Ten stipends of US$1,000 each, to include registration, will be allocated according to the criteria below. The funding will be made available at the conference site. Arrangements for travel and accommodation are to be made by the trainee.

The purpose of this support is to encourage trainees to participate in the conference and Education Day and to gain knowledge, develop capacity and form professional networks that will be of short- and long-term benefit for the field of pediatric pain research and management.

Eligible trainees include graduate students, predoctoral and postdoctoral interns, residents, fellows and scientists in basic biology and psychology, health research or health professional training programs.


Criteria for support of trainees:

Support will be provided to trainees who...
• Have submitted an abstract to the conference as first author
• Are a member (trainee or regular) of IASP SIG on Pain in Childhood
• Commit to attend both the Education Day and the full scientific program of ISPP
• Provide clear justification of their need for support to attend the meeting
• Have a sufficient grasp of English to benefit from attendance

Consideration will be given to the balance of representation across the discipline or profession, gender, and geographical origin of recipients.

Application Process

Individuals who meet the criteria are invited to apply by February 22, 2019, completing the form and a short (one page) curriculum vitae together with your abstract submitted to the conference. Receipt of applications will be acknowledged. Applicants will be advised as soon as possible of whether their application is successful.
